Participation in International Seminar Solar Photovoltaic Systems: An Alternate Solution for the Growing Energy Demand

Er. Gunjan Atreya, Lecturer of Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering participated in International Seminar on “Solar Photovoltaic Systems : An Alternate Solution for the Growing Energy Demand” on 11-12 December 2011 jointly organized by Kathmandu University and Alternative Energy Promotion Center/Energy Sector Assistance Program, Khumaltar. The seminar helped in the exchange of experience and information on solar photovoltaic technology, its prospects and challenges for the growing renewable energy (biomass, solar energy, wind and hydropower) demand among the professionals and academicians working in the field.

Discussions in the seminar highlighted challenges, constraints, policy and planning frameworks and barriers pertaining to the use of solar photovoltaic systems, promotion of associated technologies, promotion of institutional awareness and innovation of solar photovoltaic systems in the public and private sectors. Need to learn from international practice and experience in the field was also emphasized.
